Andy Radice

Jane (Befriender & Chair) & Andy Radice (Treasurer)
"Our son William was stillborn in April 2004 when I was 39 weeks pregnant. This left us devastated and feeling very lonely. Thankfully I had Bedford Sands for support. Monthly support meetings became my lifeline and slowly over time Andy and I were able to rebuild our lives. We now have two daughters called Scarlet and Sophia. The help that Bedford Sands gave me made me determined to set up Milton Keynes Sands so that I could give back that support. My husband wanted to be treasurer so that he could contribute in his own way to Milton Keynes Sands. I am very proud of what we have achieved at MK sands and I hope to continue providing support to bereaved parents for many years."

Tracy Rea - Bereavement midwife
" I was appointed full time Bereavement Midwife for Milton Keynes Hospital in July 2008. I am available to all women whose pregnancy has ended, through miscarriage, medical termination of pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death. As the Bereavement Midwife I will visit these families either in the Hospital or at their home to ensure that their individual wishes are met and that the information is shared. I also work closely with SANDS and have successfully instigated several study days to improve our collective knowledge and also introduced procedural changes to follow up appointments, reducing stress and anxiety for bereaved parents."

Pippa Morris - Befriender
"Our daughter Tilly May was born at 40 wks in December 2004, however, due to an undetected medical condition, she only lived for 13 days. I was initially unaware of, and didn’t contact Sands, until some 3 years later. It can be a very confusing time emotionally and through the group I found I was not alone in my thoughts and feelings, other bereaved parents and families understood the often overwhelming feelings of isolation, anger and devastation, as they too had experienced them. I became a befriender to hopefully give back the love, strength and support that I have been fortunate to receive from the MK Sands group."
